March 2014 Changes to Aged Care Fees

March 2014 Changes to Aged Care Fees

The New Government chose to go forward with proposed changes made by the last Government in September to Aged Care scheduled for July 2014. However, keep in mind that all existing residents in aged care (on July 1, 2014) will remain under the current charging regime, unless they elect to change, so there is no need to worry about friends & relatives who are already in care, nothing should change for them. It should only apply to new residents who enter care after 1/7/2014.

As from 20th March 2014 the new Aged Care Rate of BASIC Daily Care Fee is as follows:

 Maximum Basic Daily Fee

- Standard Resident contribution– includes respite residents

up to $46.50 / day

- Protected resident contribution

up to $42.40 / day

- Phased Resident Contribution

up to $46.50 / day

- Non-Standard Resident Contribution

up to $52.79 / day

 Maximum Daily Income Tested Fee

up to $73.86 / day

Maximum Daily Accommodation Charge                  up to $34.20 /day
